"Do you remember drinking in the parking lot
By the trailhead?
I see you for a moment, then the morning comes
And it's wasted
We listen to "Only The Good Die Young"
And we laugh about its statement
We walk in the same direction, but we both got lost
And you raged in my impatience"

Personality:
Carlo is not the typical foal that comes of Lady Liberty. She isn't a puppy dog, she doesn't try to crawl in your lap. She likes to keep to herself for the most part unless there's treats involved, then it's almost impossible to get her to leave you alone. She's not a super affectionate horse unless she's very familiar with her handler and even then she usually doesn't do much but nibble on your sleeve. She makes friends but never gets too herd bound to them. Carlo is affectionately named after Grayson Meadows' former owner Tanner Grayson who passed away unexpectedly a few years ago, Hadley thought the resplendence in personality between the two was uncanny. When Hadley was younger her nick name for her brother was Carlo, so this filly means a little something special to everyone.
Carlo is a willing pupil and is naturally very pliable which made her a quick break out and an easy study. She was easily one of the best breakouts Grayson Meadows has ever had and it was almost as if she knew her purpose the second she hit the ground because this filly hit the ground running. She chases her pasture mates around trying to entice them into racing her and will absolutely destroy her stall if left without any sort of entertainment. Carlo is very hyperactive and always has to be doing something, which means you can find her digging a hole to china if she isn't stimulated in one way or another. The good news is that Carlo is not a escape artist so that's a major plus for the staff at Grayson Meadows.
Carlo sports the same natural gait of Constitution and Spirit Of Liberty and in time Hadley is confident that she'll flourish into a lovely race horse. She's quick on her feet and is often affectionately referred to as twinkle toes around the barn because when Carlos runs her hooves barely brush the ground. For being a smaller framed horse she certainly can pack a lot of ground into a single stride. She loves the feeling of the wind on her face as she takes off at a dead sprint and appears to love every aspect of her job. Carlo is a rare breed, she's a front running fool but has the natural propensity to carry her speed over five to ten furlongs worth of distance and it makes her an absolutely brilliant runner and a thorn in the side of any of her foes.

Racing Info:
Surface Preference: Dual (SS applied)
Distance: 5-10 Furlongs (2f extension) Grade: Four Trainer: Steve Wilson Jockey: Andrew Martin Leg Type: Front Runner/Pace presser Carlo breaks swift as a fox from the gate. From there she maintains her speed and will take a brief breather along the backstretch before firing home in the final few furlongs. She's referred to as the front running fool at Grayson Meadows. What makes her unique is her speed and her ability to carry it over a variety of distances. If you let this filly out on the lead by herself the race is lost within the first few strides after they leave the starting gate. You let Carlo have an easy lead and she'll thump ya by a mile. She's the dangerous sort that humors a speed duel but is smart enough to know when the pace should be pressed instead of pursued, she has a turn of foot that seems to come out of nowhere even when it looks like she's been beaten she'll find another gear to wire a field handily. |
