Personality:
Here is about the most opinionated horse you will ever meet. Prince (or princess as he's been deemed by much of the staff) is a regally bred colt and he knows it. The team was beyond excited to have the colt of Call Me Crooked in their ranks, after all the mare was a huge success under the guidance of Grayson Meadows and to have one of her colts on the property was a prospect they weren't sure would ever happen. They however had no idea what they were getting themselves into. Prince is a picky horse but what he is willing to eat depends on the day, alfalfa cubes one day, maybe some hay pellets the next, it's infuriating to everyone because collectively he eats enough for two horses but he wastes enough for six in the span of a week. He hates apples, carrots, peppermints, gummy worms and bananas, but will happily take a bite out of your ham and cheese sandwich if you aren't paying attention.
Prince must be fed at 5am sharp and 5pm sharp or you will find him somewhere on the farm gorging himself on a bag of grain or a hay bale. You know all those photos people post on facebook of horses that escaped their stall over night and got into the feed room? Yeah that's Prince. He's a smart horse and has zero issues with figuring out how he can get out of a stall or jump a fence just for the fun of it. When being groomed he has to be watched closely or he'll be down the barn isle before you can say "woah". He's fidgety and will knock brushes and tack onto the floor around him and his favorite thing to do when he is bored or tied is paw... only with his right front, never the left.
This is a horse no horse or human will want to be picking a fight with, he's volatile and not exactly a horse that everyone can love. His temper is quick and as fierce as a lion. He's more than happy to knock anyone out with a quick swing of his big head, he's known to strike when angered and if handled harshly will absolutely explode with an anger that has been thus far unequaled by any horse on the property. However, his standoffish personality and quick anger also makes him a wonderful mount for his jockey, because the horse hates losing and doesn't take no for an answer.
If Prince does not want to do something it's best that you just put him away and try again another day. If his rider or handlers do not know how to handle him correctly he will take full advantage. He's moody, buddy sour, cranky, opinionated and absolutely brilliant. When asked to move out he's like a rocket but he's a dream to ride. Smooth, attentive and incredibly smart. He knows his job and he loves to do it well but he does it on his own terms. Similar to that of his dam, Prince navigates a race on his own and doesn't much like it if his jockey tells him how to do his job. On the track you can also find this horse lawn darting his jockey if they get too strong with him. If you don't ride correctly or in the manner that Prince prefers he will ditch his rider. He has no problems doing his job and if he believes you are hindering him in any way he'll let you know and you won't get much time to fix it. Patience is not his strong suit to say the least.

Racing Info:
Surface Preference: Dual
Distance: 5-9 Furlongs (1F extension) Grade: Three Trainer: Aaron Evertt Jockey: Alex Shade Leg Type: Stalker Prince blows his chest up to intimidate everyone around him come race time. He wears his pride on his sleeve and he's easily a crowd favorite as he dances his way down the track. Aaron likes to say he stretches himself out to gain an advantage over his opponents, I mean he's basically warmed up by the time his feet touch the track after all of his paddock shenanigans. He possess the same aura about him that Crook had and it makes everyone quite nervous. You can never be too sure when this ticking time bomb will go off. He loads into the gate like a gentlemen, it isn't below him to take a chunk out of the assistant starters though. Once the gates open he'll rocket out of them then settle in to the pack of horses. He'll spend the majority of the time with his ears pinned, he thinks it intimates his foes, perhaps it does, we don't much care, it's just nerve wrecking... never know when this colt will take a chunk out of someone. Once he settles in he'll start to pick off his foes one by one until he hits the stretch where he'll kick it into high gear and will put lengths between him and his opponents in just a few strides of left unchallenged. When challenged he gets quite angry and he'll fight with everything he has until he's declared the winner. |
