Personality:
Gassie is a barn favorite because of her charming personality and lovable sense of humor. She's small, she's spooky, she loves the mud and she has the most lovable personality of almost any horse that has set foot on to Grayson Meadows' property. Those green Gatorade water bottles? The ones that you can spray your friends with? Yeah, this horse loves biting those and making them spray all over the staff or other horses. Gassie loves messing with her tongue and sticking it out of her mouth in odd angles, every once in awhile you'll catch her making odd noises with it by sucking it between her lips. She also loves to run with her tongue flopping in the wind. Gassie loves licking hands and her favorite treat is chocolate chip flavored pop tarts, except she'll eat just about anything you give to her. Its a wonder she stays so slim with the amount of food this filly consumes. She also loves butt scratches and will back her rear end up to you to get them and will follow you with her butt if she thinks you haven't scratched it for a satisfying amount of time. However, for all her funny quirks Gassie is quite spooky at times. You can catch her spooking at her own farts or another horse stomping their foot down the barn isle as she is dozing off. Aaron simply likes to say that Gassie has a very strong sense of self preservation. She's very sensitive and needs a confident hand to feed off of in order to meet her full potential.
Her sweet personality is displayed mostly towards humans, she's always the first to the gate and will shove her muzzle in your face for a kiss, if you don't give her one she'll keep poking you with her nose until you do. She also does this with the gate assistants, you can only imagine getting her to focus before a race can be a little challenging. She'll also take opportunities to rest her head on one of her many human friends' shoulders, she might even doze off like this. She loves being cuddled in her stall and the more you smother this filly with love the happier she is. She just wants to be a lap dog except she's a whopping 1000lbs and despite what she seems to think she can in fact not sit on her handlers laps.
She's a fantastic runner despite being rather spooky, which she has started to outgrow with age. She loves running with other horses and is super attentive to what her jockey is wanting her to do. Gassie was one of the easiest breakouts because of how willing and trainable she is.

Racing Info:
Surface Preference: Dual
Distance: 5-8 Furlongs Grade: Three Trainer: Aaron Evertt Jockey: Andrew Martin Leg Type: Mid-pack Gassie is hit or miss with loading in the gate, some days she has no issues with it others its like the world is going to kill her. She's a space cadet and spends a lot of her time in the gate trying to kiss her new friend (aka the assistant starter). Getting her to focus is a bit of a challenge. Once the gates open Gassie shoots out of them like a rocket and looks like she's about to run to the lead but levels out and sticks to the middle of the pack. She has a lovely cruising speed and is so obedient that she won't go a second faster or slower unless her jockey tells her to. After the command to go is given Gassie puts all her heart and soul into the final stretch run and is known around the barn for being a gutsy little mare. Small but mighty Gassie's stride can easily cover enough ground to catch up to a far larger horse. |
