Cobweb was known as a barn favorite for her undying love of running, energy and sweet personality around the barn. It didn't come as much of a surprise that her daughter is much the same way. Cobbers is every bit what her mother was and just a little bit more. She's also been described as sweet as pie though. This filly quickly makes friends wherever she goes because she's a lovebug and is more than happy to return a scratch if you give her a good one on her shoulder or back. However, you are her absolute best friend in the world if you scratch her ears and she'll never forget if you've done so!
Exercise riders and jockeys alike describe riding this filly is like riding a ticking time bomb and not in a explosive anger kind of way but in a nuclear bomb level of energy explosion kind of way. You know that feeling of just pure energy beneath you, when you just aren't quite 100% sure what the horse is going to do under you but all you know is that it cannot be good, that's what it's like riding Cobbers. She's never malicious about it though, she just has too much energy and has no idea what to do with all of it. It all has to come out somewhere! Just... sometimes it's in the form of bucks, farts, rears or taking the bit in her mouth and taking herself for a lovely morning jog but instead of a jog it's more like a full out sprint for as long as she pleases. Yeah don't let her lose on the lead, she'll run everyone into the ground.
Cobbers doesn't quite come without some flaws however, all that bound up energy can cause her to lose focus from time to time. As a matter of fact it isn't uncommon to completely lose her baby brain during a warm up or breeze because she gets fixated on something as little as a goose just chillin in the infield of the track. This trait has endearingly earned her the name of "space cadet" around the barn. Somehow she can maintain focus enough to eat her way through an entire mini salt lick in just a few hours in her stall though, just one of the worlds many many mysterys. However, this is just one quirk of a great many when it comes to Cobbers. See Cobbers is a sweet filly and is an absolute people pleaser so she would never do something to upset her handlers. There is one slight issue that we've had with her since she was born however, she has nasty habit of slipping out of bridles and halters and no one can really quite figure out just how she does and judging by her shocked and terrified reactions each time it happens, neither can she.
So if ear rubs earn this filly's undying love and affection for life, is there anything else to earn such a title? Why yes, yes there is. Anything citrus, oranges, clementines, lemons, limes and grapefruits you name it this filly loves it. It's her post exercise and post race treat and she absolutely lives for them!

Race Record: 10-2-3-3 (80%)
Earnings: Surface Preference: Turf
Distance: 5-10 (2f distance ext) Grade: Maiden Trainer: Steve Wilson Jockey: Alex Shade Leg Type: Midpack/Occasional Front Running Shenanigans Cobbers is usually a go with the flow sort of horse, it's much easier to keep her focused when there is a lot going on around her, thus the midpack position is the place for her to be. However, she does occasionally break exceptionally well and will just sprint until she can't anymore which is something the GM team tries to keep on lockdown because we aren't too sure just how far this filly can go yet. Nonetheless she exhibits a similar turn of foot to that of Phantasm Frost and Daddy's Overdraft which makes for a pretty thrilling stretch run that if left uncontested will result in an absolute romp over her foes. |
